Taking the Plunge into affiliate Marketing

Hi everyone, about 7 months ago after I bought some email advertising for an affiliate program the follow up team from the advertising agency hooked me with their sales copy call. They said they were looking to take a select few under their wing to show the ropes to start making $5,000 - $8,000 a month. Now because of the reputable name behind the company, (Mike Gilaspie) or Mike G as hes known, I ended up spending $3,000 for personal coaching which they drill into you that you're going to make it. I was at a vulnerable spot, into affiliate marketing for 4-5 months, taking in info, just starting to build my own website, and had just enough from an injury to take classes or do something to try to get ahead. They caught me at a good time cause I thought it was meant and i hadn't heard all the riff raff on coaching programs. The way they pitch it to you, I was well assured I'd be in damn good shape at 5-8 grand a month. Thats the intermediate level AM's dream come true.

With or without a website is a termused in the pitch and I had a very poorly contented one at the time I thought it was great and hey, I was one step ahead. I really couldn't believe the coaching lessons was such common stuff like get a blog, submit to the search engines, use Adwords, and begin linking. I don't want to go into how I feel about it cause it really is being duped for way to much. They offer a guarantee of "if you don't recoop initial investment (they like to call it) within first 6 months, then we'll work with you for up to a year. Its been 6 months so I'm going to get that out of them. And also part of the scheme is " all we want from you in return is a testimonial of the success you've raked in. They really make it sound like a right away deal.

Affiliate marketing does hold extreme potential and if you continue to work at it its indeed profitable. I just think for the amount they run someone for especially if they "have" a website and they're an advertising agency to begin with they should include some advertising in the deal.
All I can say is that if you're looking into being coached, i'm sure there are worthwhile teachings to be had but really do some Due Diligence and figure the secret Guru knowledge is just basic common practice and knowledge, don't let yourself be fooled.

I have learned a lot more since then and have built a better quality website full of unique relevant content, utilized some SEO techniques, and network constantly until the traffic is on auto-pilot. This is where it finally gets fun and results of my efforts are growing. Just sticking at it as in anything in life eventually you'll prosper at it.
